Fuel Information

H&F can offer four fuel types: oil, solid fuel, gas and electricity and there are two variations of oil burner: pressure jet and vaporising burner. Here we list the features of each type so that you can make an informed choice on the best fit for your own circumstances.

Solid Fuel:

  • Types: Dry, well seasoned timber, coal, anthracite (some Agas) briquettes, turf
  • Cost – If you have access to wood of turf, your fuel is effectively free
  • Servicing Interval – Every two years
  • Responsive – Not as responsive as gas or oil but more so than electricity
  • Quiet – Very low noise output
  • Availability – Available across all brands and most models

Oil Fired:

  • Spec: 28sec Kerosene
  • Convenience – No need to load fuel and timer activated
  • Long refuelling intervals – Typically, every two or three months
  • Servicing interval – Every six months or yearly, depending on use
  • Controllability – Easy and accurate control of cooking and heating temperatures
  • Twin burner models available – For independent control of cooking and heating
  • Responsive – Quickly adjust cooking or heating temperature
  • High heat capacity – More hot water, more radiators and larger ovens
  • Clean fuel – No waste to remove, low odours, no flue cleaning
  • Quiet – Almost silent with a vaporising burner
  • Availability – Available across all brands and models

Electricity, 2 Models:

  • Aga 9A Electric Conversion: Similar to the oil and gas this can be  always-on  whereby your converted Aga can run continuously and work in the same manner as on the previous fuel type. However a one major benefit of this conversion is you have thermostatic control with timer  that gives greater control
  • Control Aga Electric Conversion: With this conversion you can simply turn on, cook and then turn off your converted Aga so it works more like a domestic cooker with the added benefit of cast iron cooking. However you can use this model for room heat during the day and there's a timer fitted to facilitate this feature

Gas Fired:

  • Types: LPG (bottled gas) & natural gas
  • Convenience – No need to load fuel
  • Long refuelling intervals – Typically, every three months for a tank and never, if you have a mains supply
  • Servicing Interval – Every six months or yearly, depending on use
  • Controllability – Easy to control and the most accurate adjustment of cooking and heating temperatures
  • Responsive – Quickly adjust cooking or heating temperature
  • High heat capacity – More hot water, more radiators and larger ovens
  • Clean fuel – No waste to remove, completely odourless, no flue cleaning
  • Silent – Zero noise output
  • Availability – Mostly limited to the Aga range
